The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a significant celebration in the Church’s calendar, honouring the triumph of the Cross as the ultimate symbol of Christ’s victory over sin and death. Far more than a remembrance of the instrument of the crucifixion, the feast calls the faithful to reflect on the hope and salvation the Cross represents for all believers. It is a day to contemplate the mystery of God’s love revealed through the sacrifice of Christ and to embrace the Cross as a source of strength in our own lives.

Last year’s celebration held particular joy for the parish as it coincided with the first Mass of Fr Peter George. After years of preparation, formation, and discernment, Fr Peter offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 10.30am for the first time, marking an important milestone in his priestly vocation. His ordination is not only a blessing for him personally but also a gift for the parish and wider Church community, who have supported him on his journey and will now witness the beginning of his ministry at the altar.

The day will began with Mass at 8.00am, followed by the special 10.30am Mass celebrated by Fr Peter. Afterward, all were warmly invited to gather in the parish hall for refreshments, offering an opportunity to share in fellowship and extend congratulations to Fr Peter and his family. It was memorable occasion of faith, thanksgiving, and community, uniting us all under the sign of the Cross.
